Dr. Summers is a native of California and a 1998 UC Davis graduate. She worked in small animal

private practice as a veterinary assistant prior to attending veterinary school, and as a

veterinarian briefly after graduating. In 1999, she took advantage of an opportunity to work

with non-human primates at the Oregon National Primate Research Center, then returned to

California and worked for the California National Primate Research Center for several years.
